The Stanford University Comprehensive Cancer Center is requesting proposals for its Developmental Research Award program. All researchers and clinicians conducting cancer-related research at the Stanford University School of Medicine are encouraged to apply. Special consideration will be given to interdisciplinary team projects.

Proposals must be submitted by April 2, 2007. Award winners will be announced on May 1, 2007.

Selected applicants can receive up to $50,000 to pursue their research. Funding for the program is provided by Stanford University President’s (John Hennessy) Office.

The program focuses on two areas of research:

Translational Research: Translational research grants will be awarded to innovative collaborations between basic scientists and clinical researchers who are working to translate laboratory discoveries into new approaches for cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Population Science Research: Grants for population science research aim to support investigations in cancer epidemiology, survivorship and control with the goal of advancing more effective prevention and detection strategies, public health policy and cancer care.
